However, for the adventurous and the daring, Jaquar also offers fully envisaged, bespoke environments, painstakingly developed to exude modern chic refinement while paying homage to Victorian fashion and architecture. Each of the five elaborate themes is aptly named after a world-renowned piece of royal British property like Hampton Court Palace, Balmoral Castle, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Osborne House.
Hampton
The Hampton concept is named after the world-famous Hampton Court Palace, situated in London on the banks of River Thames. This royal palace is a fine example of two distinctly contrasting styles of Tudor and Baroque architecture and how they exist harmoniously together. The palace, though famous for its gorgeous gardens and features like the Maze and the Great Vine is even more so for being the favoured residence to the eccentric king of England, Henry the VIII. As one of the first patrons of this royal residence, Henry used the palace to demonstrate his magnificence and power in every possible way, through lavish banquets, extravagant court life and fabulously expensive art.
Jaquar’s vision for the Hampton concept bridges the past and the present using a lighter palette of wood and pastels, alongside crafted embellishments. It takes its inspiration from the actual palace, in how it marries the simplicity of Tudor architecture with the ornate detailing of Baroque. Even the colours, finishes and materials used in the concept, have been done purposely to represent timeless regal elegance.
Balmoral
Balmoral Castle in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland lends its name to the next tastefully conceived concept from Jaquar. The castle is more like a large estate house, with its estate covering an area of approximately 50,000 acres. Owned by Queen Elizabeth II, it has been one of the residences of the British royal family since 1852. Balmoral is a fine example of Scottish baronial architecture and shows the final Victorian embodiment of the style.
The Balmoral from Jaquar effortlessly fuses softer colours and harder surfaces, achieving a fine balance of materials and textures. Cosy colours, lavish amounts of space and the occasional foliage set the stage for soothing luxurious relaxation.
Buckingham
Jaquar’s third design composition takes inspiration from its namesake, the iconic Buckingham Palace in London. It is the residence and administrative headquarters of the monarch of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II. Buckingham palace remains as one of the most recognisable landmarks of London thanks in part to it being the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality. The palace also serves as the focal point for the British people at times of national rejoicing and mourning. This grand stately palace is not only the home but a symbol of the British monarchy.
The idea behind Buckingham is to infuse timeless grandeur with a palette of stately greys, classic browns and a hint of nature’s green. Jaquar created this design to convey a sense of occasion every time you step into your grand bathroom. With its flowing spaces and regal appointments, the bathroom manages to look both formal yet instantly inviting.
Windsor
Next on the list of royal abodes is the nearly 1000-year-old Windsor Castle. Built in the 11th century, Windsor Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world and the longest-occupied palace in Europe, but it also remains a functioning royal home. The castle looks majestic and imposing in the way it dominates and rises above its wooded surroundings. Its Gothic foundations standing proud and strong, having withstood centuries of inclement weather and tumultuous periods of strife and war.
With the Windsor concept, Jaquar has gone for classy, contemporary, clean lines combined with muted tones more akin to what one finds in nature. The bathroom design leads to the feeling of a disciplined and organised space, pristine and unsullied by clutter. The ambience becomes even more pleasant and alluring as your eyes rest on the calming natural colours and finishes used.
Osborne
Osborne is the name chosen by Jaquar for their last and final concept of design. Displaying a mix of Palladian architecture and Italian Renaissance style stands the noble but homely Osborne House, designed by Prince Albert himself. The imperial residence was built between 1845 and 1851 as a summer home and a rural retreat for the British royal family and was a favourite of Queen Victoria’s.
Interestingly, Osborne House has numerous associations with the British Raj and India, housing a collection of paintings of Indian persons and scenes, painted at Queen Victoria's request by Rudolf Swoboda. The association goes further in the form of a room built to host state functions and aptly named the ‘Durbar Room’. This room was decorated by Bhai Ram Singh in an elaborate and intricate style and has a carpet from Agra.
Concept Osborne is about the purity of white and geometric patterns coming together to complement the femininity of the Queen’s Prime range of bathroom fittings. The attractive, delicate flowing lines of the fittings contrast beautifully with the light coloured background covered in geometric patterns. All the elements have been put together in such a way that they represent an environment of warmth, intimacy and security.
So whether you are looking to create a conversation starter with a Single Lever Basin Mixer for your bathroom sink or you are hunting for the complete experience, where your visit to the bathroom leaves you feeling completely relaxed and coming back for more; Queen’s Prime range of bathroom fittings from Jaquar should be your first choice, every time.
